Personal grants

We help young people under 26 with the cost of sport and other extracurricular activities. This includes support when a family’s circumstances have changed, so that a young person can continue taking part.

Who can apply: primary schools in our area, on behalf of families. Please speak to your child’s school.

Also funded this year

Alongside our grants for activities, school trips and student bursaries, this year we also funded support for young people’s wellbeing in schools. In secondary schools, this included 1:1 counselling. At primary level, we funded a trial of counselling for primary-age children, as well as a four-week mindfulness course for Year 6 classes. These awards supported both individual counselling and provision for whole classes, across primary and secondary school settings.

The Youth Charity Hub

Our Youth Charity Hub was officially opened in July 2026 by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE CStJ. It gives youth charities professional office space free of charge, so that more of their funding goes directly to supporting young people, and brings them together under one roof to share ideas, expertise and resources.

The Trustees manage the Trust’s investments to maintain the building and to fund grants for young people and youth organisations in Hitchin and district. Trustees serve terms of four years, in line with Charity Commission guidance.
